Larry Gales Transcription: Lulu's Back In Town
Greetings, Dudes!
Came across this video of Monk's quartet in '66 (Monk-P. Charlie Rouse-TS, Larry Gales-B, Ben Ryley-D) and transcibed a chorus or so of Larry's solo. Here it is, hope you enjoy, and about the enharmonic notes; depending on the situation some seemed more appropriate than others. Starting around m. 19 check out what he does with the triplets..shit is dope.

Scott Lafaro Transcription-In Your Own Sweet Way
Howdy Y'all...
Came across this album The Legendary Scott LaFaro (1957) a few weeks back, on which he plays with Pat Moran (p) and Johnny Whited (d). Wanted to get some of Scott Lafaro's language under my fingers, so to speak, so I transcribed LaFaro's solo on their arrangement of Dave Brubeck's In Your Own Sweet Way.
I figured it'd be good to share with friends and strangers alike--for that matter, those who appreciate good bass playing, really.
I will upload more of my transcriptions to this blog soon, but for starters...
